Therapy for Adults with Autism in Texas

Empowering Neurodiverse Individuals Through Supportive, Neuroaffirming Care

Whether you were diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in childhood or adulthood, navigating the world as a neurodiverse person can come with a unique set of challenges and strengths. As a therapist with experience in applied behavioral analysis (ABA) and mental health counseling—and someone passionate about neurodiversity-affirming care—I provide virtual therapy for autistic adults across Texas, offering support that is compassionate, individualized, and grounded in respect for your lived experience.

From Austin, Dallas, and Houston to rural or underserved areas, I offer telehealth counseling designed to fit your life—no long commutes, no sensory-overwhelming office visits, and no pressure to "mask" or conform.

Therapy That Celebrates Your Neurodiversity

Autistic adults often face significant mental health challenges—not because of autism itself, but due to misunderstanding, stigma, social exclusion, and chronic invalidation. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling burned out from years of masking, struggling with anxiety or depression, and feeling misunderstood in both personal and professional spaces.

You may be experiencing:

  • Autistic burnout and sensory overwhelm

  • Executive functioning challenges

  • Social fatigue or isolation

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Anxiety or depression

  • Rejection sensitivity

  • Difficulty with transitions or changes

  • Trauma stemming from past ABA misuse or invalidation

  • Feeling like you have to hide or mask who you are

These struggles are valid. And therapy can be a powerful way to unmask, decompress, and reconnect with who you are—on your own terms.

My Experience Working with Autistic Adults

Before starting my private practice, I worked in hospitals, counseling clinics, and at the Austin State Supported Living Center, where I supported autistic adults using applied behavioral analysis strategies and person-centered care. While ABA can be controversial, especially for those who experienced it as children, I bring a neuroaffirming lens—recognizing that therapy should never be about compliance, but rather building autonomy, self-understanding, and meaningful coping tools.

In my private practice, I combine this behavioral foundation with humanistic, trauma-informed, and identity-affirming approaches. That means therapy is collaborative, respectful, and tailored to your individual preferences, needs, and sensory boundaries.

How I Support Autistic Adults in Therapy

Therapy for adults with autism isn’t one-size-fits-all. That’s why I take an eclectic and client-centered approach, integrating:

  • Mindfulness-based strategies to reduce overwhelm and build self-regulation

  • Narrative therapy to reshape internalized stories and honor your unique voice

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) adapted to neurodiverse thinking styles

  • Existential therapy for those exploring identity, purpose, and meaning

  • Solution-focused therapy for working toward goals and building confidence

  • Ecotherapy and sensory integration tools to ground and regulate

I also draw from real-life experience working with autistic adults across a wide range of support needs, communication styles, and relationship preferences.

Some of the Topics We Can Explore Together

Every client is different, but common goals for therapy might include:

  • Navigating burnout and energy regulation

  • Understanding and accepting your autism diagnosis (at any age)

  • Developing routines, structure, and executive functioning supports

  • Improving communication in relationships

  • Managing sensory sensitivities and overstimulation

  • Processing past trauma or ableism

  • Exploring intersectional identity (e.g., LGBTQIA+ & autistic)

  • Advocating for your needs in work, school, or family settings

  • Learning to live more authentically without masking

You don’t have to do it all at once. We move at your pace, one step at a time.

Virtual Therapy for Autistic Adults Across Texas

Accessing a therapist who understands neurodivergence shouldn’t be limited by location. That’s why I offer 100% online therapy for adults with autism throughout Texas—from major cities like San Antonio, Houston, and Fort Worth, to small towns or remote areas with few mental health options.

Online therapy also eliminates many of the stressors that can come with in-person sessions, such as:

  • Sensory overload from new environments

  • Difficulty with transportation

  • Anxiety around face-to-face social interactions

  • Executive functioning barriers that make in-person therapy difficult to sustain

With flexible scheduling Monday–Thursday, including same-week availability, I work to make therapy more accessible and sustainable for you.

A Space Where You Don’t Have to Mask

So many autistic adults have spent their lives hiding who they are in order to be accepted or safe. In therapy, you don’t have to do that. You can stim, pause, speak in your own rhythm—or say nothing at all. Your sensory needs, emotional experiences, and cognitive patterns are all welcome here.

This is your space to be real, not “neurotypical.”
