Meet Your New Therapist
Hi, I’m Miguel Lopez, LPC.
I’m so glad you’re here.
Reaching out for support takes courage, and starting therapy is a powerful first step toward healing and self-discovery. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply curious about what therapy can offer, I want you to know you’re not alone. This space is for you—to be heard, understood, and supported without judgment. I’m honored to walk alongside you as you begin this meaningful journey.
I believe therapy should feel like a conversation, not a diagnosis.
As your therapist, I’ll offer tools, insights, and encouragement as you navigate life’s challenges and discover your own strength. Whether you're here for short-term support or long-term growth, I look forward to building a trusting connection and helping you create meaningful change—one step at a time.

My journey into counseling began with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas State University, where I developed a strong foundation in understanding human behavior and mental health. Building on that knowledge, I went on to earn a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio. These academic experiences deepened my clinical skills and prepared me to support individuals through a wide range of emotional, relational, and psychological challenges.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working in a variety of clinical settings—including hospitals, private counseling practices, and residential living centers. I’ve also gained specialized experience in applied behavior analysis (ABA), particularly through my work at the Austin State Supported Living Center, where I supported adults with Autism using evidence-based ABA techniques.
In January 2021, I launched my private practice with the goal of making quality mental health support more accessible through virtual counseling for individuals across Texas.

My therapeutic approach is eclectic and client-centered, combining humanistic principles with practical behavioral techniques to support meaningful, lasting change. I integrate a variety of evidence-based modalities—including existential therapy, solution-focused therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and narrative therapy—to meet each client’s unique goals and needs. This flexible, personalized approach allows me to work effectively with individuals navigating anxiety, life transitions, identity exploration, and emotional challenges.
For relationship counseling, I am trained in Level 1 of the Gottman Method, a research-based approach that supports all types of partnerships—romantic, long-term, LGBTQIA+, or non-traditional. This method helps couples strengthen communication, build emotional intimacy, and manage conflict more effectively.
Whether you're seeking individual therapy or relationship counseling, I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where growth and healing can take root.

Outside of counseling, I find joy and balance through nature, creativity, and meaningful relationships. You’ll often find me knitting, birdwatching, exploring new hobbies, or spending quality time with my partner, our two cats, and our dog. My personal life deeply reflects the values I bring into my therapy practice.
I regularly incorporate ecotherapy, mindfulness, and other holistic tools to stay grounded, inspired, and connected to the world around me. These practices not only support my own well-being but also fuel the passion and zest for life that I strive to help my clients cultivate in their own journeys.
